Alexis Fons is presently in her fifth and final year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at The Pennsylvania State University.  In May of 2016, Alexis will graduate with an Integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering degree, with an emphasis in Construction Management, and an Architectural Studies minor.  After graduation, Alexis will work as a Project Engineer with DPR Construction in San Diego, California.

Over the past four summers, Alexis has had internships and opportunities that have heightened her knowledge and experience.  With an assortment of world travel and experiences, including participating in the Penn State AE Rome Study Abroad program and spending six months leading house-building mission trips to Mexico and Guatemala, Alexis was able to increase her understanding not only of unique construction methods, but also of incredible people and cultures.  The construction internships that she has had in Colorado, Texas, and California have allowed her to gain experience in the field with subcontractor and design coordination, safety meetings, and document control.  On the office side, Alexis has spent time with estimates, cost projections, scheduling, and modeling.  Upon graduation, Alexis looks forward to beginning her career as an engineer on the construction site.

Alexis was a Teaching Assistant for Building Construction Engineering 1, and enjoyed the opportunity to help teach and assist students.  Outside of academics, Alexis has been a part of the Student Society of Architectural Engineering and Campus Crusade for Christ, as well as she captained the Women’s Ultimate Frisbee Club team.
